The American Flag

Our nation's flag plays an important role in the patriotic tale One April in Boston. To learn the history of the American flag, please click on the link above. Below, you can learn more about three soldiers who fought for that flag and gave their lives for the country they loved.

The Reveres

Two of Paul Revere's grandsons, Paul Joseph Revere and Edward H. R. Revere were killed in the Civil War. In One April in Boston, Philip Edwards meets the daughter of one of these men. Learn more about these two patriots who followed in their grandfather's footsteps.

Pvt. Philip Edwards

Like his ancestor Alexander Edwards, Philip was a true Son of Liberty. He gave his life in the fight for democracy in World War I. Learn more about his service in France and the circumstances surrounding his farewell letter, which appears in One April in Boston. See photos of the church and museum in France that pay tribute to him and his fellow soldiers.

Your Ancestor

Is there someone in the history of your family who gave the supreme sacrifice while serving as a member of the United States military? Please tell us about him or her, provide a photo, and we will pay tribute to your relative in this section of the website. The first person we honor here is Phil's cousin, Marine Corporal Leslie Edwards, who was killed in action in World War II.
